Human Trafficking

The women were being trafficked from Brazil, Nigeria and Namibia.
SOCA officers from Wales and Northern Ireland were involved in the operation along with colleagues from partner agencies.
A 47 year old Irish man and a 31 year old South African woman have been arrested by SOCA officers in Pembrokeshire in Wales in connection with human trafficking for sexual exploitation and control of prostitution. A number of items have been taken away or forensic examination.
As part of the international operation An Garda Siochana arrested six people in the Republic of Ireland.

Assignment 8


The one thing that caught my attention is how they hanged alot of Nazi flags.

The flags represent all people from Germany but the Jews.

I found that interesting because it shows how period times have changed.

Its ironic how today in the U.S. we have one flag for the whole U.S. and it represents everyone no matter your beliefs.

ch. 6-9

Ch 6.
What happened to anyone who did not keep up with the march?
they were shot.

How did Zalman die?
He had a stomach cramp and had to stop, his pants were down while he was trampled.

What horrible realization did Elie come to concerning Rabbi Eliahou and his son? How did Elie respond to this?
Rabbi Elihaou had a piece of bread and his son attacked him because he was hungry. He responded very sadly.

What was Juliek's last act?
Playing the violin

How did Elie help his father when the selection was made?
he saw his father was sent to the left so he ran to left too and created a confusion
.



Ch. 7
How did Elie help his dad when he was on the train?
By keeping him awake so they would not throw him off board.

Describe the scene Elie witnessed between a father and a son on the train.
He remembers when the lady was throwing money and the poor start to fight for the food.

How many got out of the wagon? Where had they arrived?
Twelve got out of the wagon.The place was Buchenwand


Ch. 8
Explain how father/son roles had been reversed in the case of Elie and his father?
First Ellie watches his dad and at the end he lets him die.

Why was Elie's father being beaten?
Because he was not able to drag himself to relieve himself outside.

What did Elie think of the advice given to him by the head of the block?
Elie knew the head of the block was right but at the same time he felt guilty so he got some bread and soup for his father.


Ch. 9
What happened on april 5th?
They were set free.

What was the resistance movement? What did they do?
When everyone fought against the Nazis.

What did the prisoners do when they were freed?
They didn't think of getting revenge but of geeting more bread to eat.

Who did Elie see in the mirror on the last page of the book? What did that mean?
He saw himself as a skeleton and very weak and skinny

Assignment 6 Chapter 4

Chapter 4

What were the objectives of the medical examinations?
The objectives of the medical examinations were to check to see if they had gold teeth.

Why were the Jewish musicians not allowed to play Beethoven?
They were not allowed to play it because it was German and Jews were not allowed to play German music.

Describe one if Idek's bouts of madness.
They were really bad up to the point where you'd better stay out of his way.

How did Elie initially avoid losing his gold crown?
He avoided this by telling the dentist he was not feeling good and that he had a fever.

Who did Elie meet on the Paris metro.
Elie met Madame, a beautiful woman with dark hair and dreamy eyes.

What happened to Ellie when he refused to give his crown to Franek? What was the end result?
Elie was hurt on his weak spot, which was his father. Elie's father had to march in step and since he was out of step he would get punched and slapped.

Describe the scene at the soup cauldrons.
The electric current in the barbed wire was cut and a man had escaped and the soldiers were to shoot anyone outside of it. A man outside was coming back crawling like a snake into the kitchen, where two cauldrons of hot soup and since he was shot and weak, and then he held himself by the handles and then the pots turned over and the soup was boiling, so he got burned.

During the preliminary ceremonies before hanging, what did Juliek tell whisper to Elie? What does this suggest?
Juliek whispered "This ceremony, will it be over soon? I'm hungry." This quote suggests that he's hungry and that he doesn't like those kinds of ceremonies.

During one hanging, Elie and the other prisoners cried. What made this hanging different from the others?
The difference was that first of all they all cried in this one and that in the other one they did not cry because in this certain hanging the person being hung was a person that all prisoners saw as a brother.
